Sisters Caroline and Isabel Bercaw—both born in Minneapolis, both currently living in New York, and both longstanding Vogue Club members—are frequently spotted at our events. It was little surprise, then, that they wouldn’t dream of missing the opportunity to see Vogue World: Paris unfold IRL. In this double-feature On Assignment, both Caroline and Isabel tell us a little about themselves before walking us through their favorite moments from the spectacular evening at Place Vendôme.
What do you do?
Caroline: I’m a full-time student at Columbia University, and with Isabel, I also co-founded a bath and body products company called Da Bomb Bath in 2012.
Isabel: The idea for founding our company stemmed from our inability to find quality bath bombs—and so, following much experimenting, we developed a formula that leaves your skin stainless. Our company now employs over 200 people at peak season—including our parents!—and our products can be found at Target, CVS and Ulta Beauty, among other places.
How long have you been a Vogue Club member?
Caroline: I joined in June 2023, so I’ve just hit my one-year mark! Knowing many Club events happen in New York, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to attend fun events while meeting people from different backgrounds.
Isabel: I’ve also been a Vogue Club member for a little over a year, and I’ve already had so much fun! I joined when I caught wind of Vogue Club’s Night at the Museum event, where I was able to view the Met’s annual fashion exhibit in partnership with Vogue and the Met Gala. It was so much fun to dress up, have a cocktail with my mom and sister, and get an early look at Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. Since that night I’ve attended several other events, and I was so excited when Vogue Club asked me to document my experience at Vogue World: Paris!
Tell us about your evening!
Caroline: It was truly unforgettable. Before Vogue World kicked off, my mom and my sister and I took a classic wooden runabout boat up and down the Seine while enjoying some champagne—it was so special! And then, once inside Place Vendôme, I was greeted by a Vogue team member—who also happened to be handing out French macarons from Ladurée. I was seated directly behind Emma Chamberlain—something I was particularly delighted by! She looked stunning. The show itself was captivating from start to finish. There was a live orchestra playing various epic songs during each section of the show, and it was incredible to see the many models and celebrities that made appearances on the runway.
Isabel: My Vogue World: Paris experience was a whole new level of exhilarating! As we approached the gates of the Place Vendôme, the paparazzi must have been impressed by my mom’s couture Huishan Zhang dress, because they stopped us for some photos! Everywhere we looked, we were wowed by gorgeously inventive attire—everything from ostrich feathers to chainmail and even a turn of the century top hat!
What did you wear?
Caroline: Inspired by the theme “A la Française,” I wore a classic navy silk dress with a Cult Gaia pearl clutch and white lace-up heels, along with pearl earrings that complemented my purse.
Isabel: Upon entering the venue, I felt like a Parisian princess in my canary yellow gown, draped in a matching jeweled necklace, and holding my black Prada clutch. Place Vendôme was the place for this type of outfit!
Did you meet any of the Vogue team?
Caroline: I ran into familiar faces from previous events I’ve attended. It was great to catch up with them and to thank them for their efforts!
Isabel: After gawking at the venue’s impressive architecture, I worked up the courage to introduce myself to British Vogue’s Head of Editorial Content—and journalism legend—Chioma Nnadi, who was kind enough to indulge my request to snap a photo together just before the show’s beginning.
What was your favorite moment of Vogue World?
Caroline: There were so many moments that stood out to me: I loved seeing Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid ride in on two beautiful horses, dressed head to hoof in Hermès—how iconic! In all honesty though, getting to experience the show with my mom and sister made the whole experience even more special.
Isabel: Picking a single favorite moment would be impossible. From start to finish, I was in awe of the mesmerizing fashion, the unique soundtrack, the dance sequences, the costumes! I was obsessed with the equestrian-themed portion of the show, specifically—the designs with wraps around the models' ponytails resembling those seen on horses—and of course I was floored when Gigi and Kendall rode down the runway on actual horses!
Who was your favorite celebrity sighting of the night?
Caroline: Without a doubt, the icon herself: Anna Wintour.
Isabel: In addition to a once-in-a-lifetime photo op with Anna Wintour, I was especially impressed with Ashley Graham's catwalk, Cara Delevigne’s captivating hosting skills, and Aya Nakamura’s musical performance. I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity!
